Open Horse Ride - It's a half a day experience​

​Our friendly horses, experienced guides and scenic trails provide you with the perfect balance of fun and safety.

Over 1 hour of riding
​​Allow 4 hours which includes rider training and time to pamper your horse from 8.30am to 12.30pm
​  *   Occasionally the tours starts on different days.

Beginners Welcome

​Your safety is our priority, we take the time to get to know your needs, then select a horse specifically for you.  Your experiences, personality and confidence level is taken into careful consideration.

The Open Horse Riding Tour begins with our unique safety and horsemanship training and a weigh in session as riders must be <100kg and over >6 years in age.

​You'll return home with plenty of time to show your horse some love with a brush and some food before it is released into the 100 acre paddock with it's friends.

There is no shame in the helmet game and we both always wear helmets when we are riding.

As well as years of horse experience mustering cattle via horse back we have also various horse sports under our belts.  Carl enjoyed  eventing and Lyn enjoyed a variety of horse sports like camp- drafting, endurance riding and polocrosse. 

We have also completed numerous Natural Horsemanship Training and Horse Safety schools."

OPEN HORSE RIDE
Available on Sunday mornings from 8.30am to 12.30pm

Explore the farm on horseback.  You will be trained and guided by Carl or Lyn who have years of horse experience and they are passionate about giving you a safe and extremely enjoyable ride. 

This memorable Open Horse Ride suits all, whether you are a beginner or have a child with a passion for ponies or if you are an experienced rider wanting to get your horsey fix! 
 
The tour begins with safety and horsemanship training.  This lesson will build your confidence both around and on your horse.
 
Feel immersed in the landscape as you ride for over an hour across the property at a leisurely pace (it's a walk only ride).  Feel a sense of freedom as you enjoy the ride through the wide-open grasslands, red dirt tracks, timber areas, and over undulating grazing land. 
​
With a trustworthy horse beneath, you’ll get up close to cattle, kangaroos, wildlife and majestic bottle trees.
 
Enjoy to quietness of the bush and those unforgettable sounds that horses make and the scent of horse, leather, grass, and eucalyptus.
 
You’ll return to the stables with enough time to pamper your horse before it is released and can roam freely with its friends.  When you’re back at the homestead you are welcome to take a dip in the pool.
 
As this tour finishes at 12.30pm some lunch options are:
  • BYO Picnic and enjoy it on the Myella lawn
  • Buy lunch in the township of Baralaba which is only 15 minutes’ drive.

WHAT TO BRING:
  • Long shirt and pants (available on request)
  • Closed shoes
  • 600ml water bottle
  • Sunscreen
  • Insect repellent
  • Swimming costume and towel in case you want a dip in the pool when you return from the ride.

​CONDITIONS APPLY:

If You Weigh Over 100kg​

We love our horses and are strict with the weight limit.  We even weigh you in, prior to your ride.  Some guests claim they are under 100kg without their clothes, but as you won't ride naked you still have to be fully clothed for the weigh in!

  • There is a disclaimer of liability to read and sign
  • The minimum age for the Open Horse Ride Tour is 6 years
  • Lead rides or family ride are available
  • This ride does not include galloping or riding at speed
  • There is a maximum rider weight limit of 100kg
  • Helmets are provided and must be worn
  • Saddles have pockets for water & camera
  • Long shirt, pants and helmets are compulsory.
